My digital illustration/mixed media piece, Escape from the Teapot, will be on display during the Saratoga Arts Annual Members' Show. The show will run from November 11th to December 31st and the gallery will be open until midnight on New Year's Eve as part of First Night Saratoga. If you are in the area, stop by at Saratoga Arts!
Two weeks in a row, I went on wonderful tours of Saratoga's mineral springs to gather reference photos for an upcoming project. Our tour guide, Trent, was quite knowledgeable about all of the springs. Although located in close proximity to one another, each spring has a different taste due to the varying mineral content.
My digital illustrations, "What I Saw Through the Magnifying Glass" and "When Clara Plays the Recorder" will be on exhibit at the Creative Endeavors Art Center in Ballston Spa, NY from April 7th through May 31st. The opening reception is this Friday, April 7th, from 6-9 PM.
The theme of the exhibit is "My story, Your Story." Each piece in the exhibit tells a story. I enjoy illustrating children's books, so this exhibit is a perfect fit for me. Also, I am happy to say that the exhibit benefits the charity Saratoga Bridges.
Upcoming Webinar for Dietitians and Health Professionals-Genetically Modified Foods: Benefits and Concerns
I will be presenting the webinar "Genetically Modified Foods: Benefits and Concerns" for Today's Dietitian on February 7th, from 2-3:30 PM. Dietitians and other health professionals will learn important points from both sides of the GMO debate and be better prepared to answer clients' questions about genetically modified foods---reported benefits, reported concerns, as well as information about labeling regulations.
I was happy to participate in the Author-Illustrator Night at Forest Brook Elementary School in Hauppauge last night. It was great to see so many children interested in finding new books to read.
For those of you who live in Suffolk County and have Optimum TV originating from Hauppauge and Riverhead, my interview with Linda Frank of The Writer's Dream will be on Channel 20 on 7/11, 8/8, 9/5, and 10/3. In the show, I discuss my writing and illustration with a focus on my books, What Happened to My Strawberry Yogurt? and the Butterfly Garden Coloring Book. Those receiving cable from the Hauppauge location can see the show Mondays at 8 AM, and those in Riverhead can see it on Mondays at 3 PM.

The CE module about GMOs that I was working on for three years was just published in the Today's Dietitian Learning Library!
The title is: Genetically Modified Foods-Benefits and Concerns.
This is quite an important topic. I am happy to be able to share information about both sides of the GMO issue with other dietitians and others who are interested in learning more about the issues involved. So much of the available information is just one-sided.
It was great participating in the Authors and Illustrators Night at Glenwood Landing Elementary School on Tuesday, May 24th. Before the event, each class "adopted" an author. My book, What Happened to My Strawberry Yogurt?, was adopted by a third grade class. It was wonderful discussing the story with children who read my book.
Click the link below to watch my interview on The Writer's Dream with Linda Maria Frank, Host and Author of Anne Tillary Mysteries. We discuss my books, What Happened to My Strawberry Yogurt? and The Butterfly Garden Coloring Book as well as some other books that I am working on. I am happy to share information about my writing and illustration inspiration and background with you.
Earlier this evening, I participated in the Author-Illustrator Night held by the Center Moriches School District and organized by LICWI. It was great to see such a great turnout of children and their parents.
In my blog, I will discuss ideas and events related to books, articles, and other educational materials that I have written. In addition, I will discuss various topics related to health, nutrition, and the environment.
